About Okiwa Bay Lodge

Set up the hillside, 200 metres from the water at Okiwa Bay we have a very secluded setting with several hectares of gardens and wild bush which are yours to explore and enjoy during your stay. Our native bush has a waterfall and benches on which you can sit and enjoy the natural beauty of flora and fauna including amuzing little Fantails, Californian Quail and Wild Boar. In the evenings, walks into the native bush are offered to see the glow worms.

Looking into Anakiwa Bay

Unwind to the therapeutic harmony of the ever present native bird life including Tui, Bell birds, Californian Quails and the beautiful bush surrounds.

Our superb setting makes Okiwa Bay Lodge an ideal retreat for honeymooners, artists, writers, fishermen and others whose idea of bliss is comfort, peace and tranquillity all enjoyed in privacy.

We feel priviledged to own this superb property and make every attempt to sympathise with the natural environment.  We grow as many of our own vegetables and fruit as possible.  We re-cycle all domestic waste into the worm farm from which the tea and the compost are used back on the garden.  All  fallen or dead timber for the wood burner fire is collected from the native bush.  We collect glass from a variety of establishements thus helping to reduce the local carbon footprint.  We have a bottle crusher which is used to create glass/sand which is then re-used to make cement for numerous creative projects.
